IN-PERSON WALK & TALK THERAPY IN GALVESTON, TX

Change doesn’t have to happen inside four walls.

You’ve probably tried therapy before—but you haven’t tried therapy like this.

Sitting across from a stranger under fluorescent lighting isn’t exactly the easiest setting to let your guard down.

That’s why walking along the beach during your therapy sessions can transform the experience. When the pressure’s off and you’re free to move at your own pace, it’s easier to connect, think clearly, and actually talk about what matters.

Walk & Talk therapy lets you breathe, move, and think in a way that feels more natural—and that can make all the difference.

Walk & Talk therapy can be helpful if you…

  • Feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in your head — Moving while we talk can help quiet the mental noise and bring you back to your body.

  •  Have a hard time opening up in a traditional office setting — Side-by-side conversation can feel easier, especially when eye contact feels intense or uncomfortable.

  • Tend to think better when your body is moving — There’s scientific evidence proving that walking can help some people process their thoughts and emotions with more clarity.

  • Need a break from the four walls of your routine — Being by the water, feeling the breeze, and watching the waves can help you reconnect with yourself in a way that’s hard to do indoors.

  • Want therapy that feels a little more human and a little less clinical — This isn’t about worksheets or diagnoses, it’s real conversation in a space that helps you breathe a little deeper and feel more like yourself.

How It works

The beach isn’t just a backdrop—it’s part of the work.

We’ll meet for our sessions in the parking lot at beach entrance #32 in Galveston. You get to decide what feels right that day—do you want to walk, sit, or do a bit of both? Bring a chair if you’d rather not walk (I’ll always have one or a blanket with me just in case), and we’ll settle in wherever you feel comfortable.

You also choose where we go or where we sit, and we’ll talk the same way we would in an office—just with the sound of waves in the background. To anyone else on the beach, we’ll just look like two people chatting, with the natural noise machine of the elements providing cover for whatever it is we’re talking about.

Dress comfortably, and know that shoes are totally optional.

Sessions are 50 minutes, and I’ll keep an eye on the time so we’re back at the lot before we wrap up. If it’s raining, too hot, or if you wake up and just don’t feel like being outside, we can always switch to a virtual session—no big deal.

I do this work because I believe real conversations—honest, unfiltered, messy, meaningful ones—can change your life. And sometimes, those conversations happen more easily when we’re side by side looking out at the water, enjoying the endorphins produced by moving our bodies. We’ll still be doing real work toward the life you want to be living—just in a way that helps you feel more in touch with yourself and the world we live in.

FAQs

  • Absolutely. For a lot of people, it’s even more effective. Being outside, moving your body, and not having to stare someone in the face can help you relax and open up in ways that don’t always happen in a traditional therapy room. The work we do is just as deep—we’re just doing it with sand under our feet instead of carpet.

  • If the weather’s rough—too hot, too cold, raining, lightning—we’ll just meet online that day. Same goes if you wake up and don’t feel like being outside. There aren't any bathrooms at this beach entrance, so you’ll want to use one ahead of time. There are public restrooms about a five-minute drive away, at the West End Marina in Sea Isle.

  • Yes, it really does. To everyone else on the beach, we just look like two people chatting or walking. If you run into someone you know, I’ll follow your lead—no pressure to explain anything unless you want to. Most of my clients say they feel just as private on the beach as they do in a therapy room—sometimes even more.
